The Byron Community Unit School District ranks as the top school district in the greater Rockford area, according to the 2022 NICHE rankings. The District was also ranked #35 across all of Illinois, placing as one of the top districts throughout the State.
Overall, Byron CUSD #226 was given a grade of “A.” The District also received “A” marks in the following subcategories: Academics, Teachers, Clubs & Activities, Sports, Health & Safety, Food, and Resources & Facilities. The ranking system is based on a rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.
Also topping the charts were Mary Morgan Elementary School and Byron Middle School. Both schools received the number #1 ranking in the Rockford area for their respective (elementary and middle school) categories. Byron High School was #3 in the greater Rockford Area.
“Despite the challenges of the past couple years, our students and staff have continued to push forward and accomplish great things,” stated Byron CUSD superintendent Buster Barton. “We are proud of their effort and grateful for the support we have received by our overall school community.”
