When made aware of her regional award and national nomination, Reilly stated, “It is overwhelming to be the Region 5 nominee! Dr. Reum was an inspirational leader who reached thousands of adults and students. I love the work that I do with student leadership throughout the state, and I am honored to be recognized as someone who has some of his qualities!”

The Earl Reum Award seeks to support student leadership opportunities throughout the United States by honoring educators who actively support the professional growth of their colleagues and peers, the teachers of teachers.   

Mrs. Reilly has been exceptionally active in her support of other educators, providing professional development to both local and regional educators for the last 7 years.  She has done so by offering workshops through The Regional Office of Education #47 and by presenting at professional conferences.

National finalist for this prestigious award are selected through their recognition at the regional level.  There are only 8 regions throughout the nation, and they include all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.  Reilly was the Region 5 representative, which consisted of six states: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio, and West Virginia. 

“Mrs. Reilly is an active member of NAWD and dedicates a tremendous amount of time promoting student leadership and helping young leaders across the state,” said Byron Middle School assistant principal Mrs. Petrece Klein. “She is certainly deserving of this recognition.”
